Need help choosing what classes to take and where to take them? This list will make it easier.

Taking classes online is becoming easier all the time. The ranks of top rated universities offering free, non-credit courses is large and keeps growing. (see Free Online Lectures from Top Rated Universities - Academic Earthand 200 Free Outstanding Online Classes for more information)
Wading through all the universities and classes can be time consuming.
The Education Portal has a great writeup of ten universities with the best free online classes that makes finding courses a little easier.

Free Online Lectures from Top Rated Universities

Academic Earth features over 1500 lecture videos from MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, Harvard, Princeton, and Yale. Here's a list of subjects:

Some of the lecture videos are grouped into courses that contain anywhere from 4 to 50 lectures.
Lectures are searchable by subject, university and popularity.

Clicking on the name of an instructor brings up a page listing the lecture videos related to that instructor.
No credits are given for the courses. You can take as many as you wish and learn as much as you want to.

On each lecture page there are course details and licensing information (mostly Creative Commons), any related resources such a syllabus, and a fun "dim the lights" feature that blacks out everything but the video.
All the lectures can be saved one way or another. Check individual lectures for formats, or check the FAQ. 

200 Free Outstanding Online Classes

Take classes online from Yale, MIT, Tufts and other respected institutions for free.

UPDATE: Some of the schools have moved the pages for some of the courses, and the OEDb hasn't updated them on their site yet.
I checked every link listed. The majority still point to the proper course.

The Online Education Database has put together 200 online classes from these and other institutions.
You can take as many as you like that interest you - there seems to be no limit and I couldn't find any strings attached in any of the material I've looked at.

Topics cover a very wide range - everything from Natural Science to Law and Politics.
If you want to learn three-dimensional modeling and animation using the Open Source software Blender, there's a course for that.

Introduction
This is a listing of 260 sites that legally offer free books (eBooks) for download or for online viewing.
Some time ago I went looking for some free eBooks and was surprised to find that there are many resources for this.  I decided to put together this list of sites that offer free eBooks as a reference.  Since there are so many, I was not able to check each one out thoroughly.  So comments from you on any of these sites would be appreciated and added to the comments in the article. 

I have tried to make certain that all of the eBooks at these sites are legally available for viewing/downloading.  However, it is possible that I have made a mistake.  If you suspect any of these sites of illegally offering copyrighted materials.Then please let me know

Putting this together was exhausting, but the list is not exhaustive, so I encourage you to post any sites that you know of that are not listed here.

How to Disable Internet Explorer

There's no doubt that Internet Explorer has been a prime target of attack for spyware merchants and other ill-intentioned goons. That's why many folks have turned to alternate browsers for their web surfing.

If you are using another browser and don't use Internet Explorer anymore, there's a case to be made that you should remove it from your system. It is, after all, a potential security threat so, if you don't need it, why not get rid of it?

Except, getting rid of IE is not that easy. In fact, with later versions of Windows there's no satisfactory way of removing it completely without risking crippling Windows itself.
